Dozens of students, many from Marian Catholic’s Art Club, volunteered their time and their artistic vision to create a public mural in Chicago Heights.

Called “Pieces of Us,” the neighborhood mural can be found along the wall of the Old Plank Road underpass at Lincoln Highway, also known as Thorn Creek Trail.

Senior Aaliyah Merrick led members of the school’s Art Club in this outreach project to cover the 72-ft long concrete “canvas” in vibrant color.

Student artists were encouraged to show images that make them think of community.

Community. companionship and compassion are at the heart of the mission behind the “Pieces of Us” mural.
