On Friday, February 13, Marian Catholic High School Students took part in an on-campus protest, where students marched around the campus vicinity to protest against ICE and the injustices that many immigrants have faced.
With the help of Hispanic Student Coalition, Black Student Union, Mental Health Club, and Student Council, the school admin worked with student leadership groups to make sure expectations were met and students were safe to express themselves, and their views concerning the perceived injustices against immigrants.
Many students showed their support for immigrants by creating posters and representing Latin American countries that have fallen victim to the current abuses from ICE. Many students expressed their solidarity with immigrants during the walkout.
Caleb Klein, Junior Student, said, “I think it was a good cause. I think obviously, we could’ve been to an area where we could’ve been more seen. The message was there. We did a good job with participating. Once we got near the streets, people saw the walkout and acknowledged, the message which was good.”
