Boys Basketball Shows Fight in Wins and Losses

The Marian Catholic Boys Basketball team is currently (21-7, 9-5) after losing their eight-game winning streak at the hands of Benet Academy last Friday.

During the Benet game Marian Catholic was able to cut down a double-digit deficit to six late in the third quarter, but overall couldn’t make the comeback over Benet. This resulted in ESCC leader Benet Academy who improved to 25-1 and 13-0 with a 57-49 decision over the Spartans Feb. 3.

Senior Donovan Juzang added 11 points and Junior Jonah Weathers nine markers for Marian. Quentin Jones (two steals) also pulled down seven boards for the Spartans, but even with this great effort, Marian Catholic was subsequently outrebounded, 34-19. 

As for the Marian Catholic sophomore’s the young Spartans dropped a 54-31 decision to the Red Wings and the Marian Freshman’s A Squad fell to Benet, 52-48, despite 19 points from Cardan Gordon. The B Team notched a 31-28 triumph over the Redwings, as Michael Witherspoon scored 15 points.

The next game for the Marian Catholic Boys Basketball team is Friday, February 10th at Notre Dame at 7 p.m.
