With Midnights, Taylor Swift-ly pops to the Top of the Charts

By Clarke Stalling, Music Critic

Taylor Swift has done it again with Midnights.

With Midnights, Swift’s latest, Taylor has made music history by becoming the first artist to claim the top 10 spots in the Billboard Hot 100. Swift’s song “Anti-Hero” snatched the number one spot. Other offerings like “Lavender Haze” and “Maroon” followed close behind.

Taylor’s pop nature returns with Midnights in contrast to her two previous ones: folklore and evermore, which were both alternative albums.

We hear her return with fun pop songs like “Bejeweled.”

But Swift also maintains the depths she can bring her music with “Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve” which was released with a special addition album called Midnights (3am version)

The 3am version includes seven additional songs bringing the album from the original 13 to 20.

Swift has now announced a tour in 2023, the “Eras Tour.” The tour, as titled, will be of all her previous eras starting with her first album Taylor Swift in 2006 to Midnights. The tour contains opening acts from singers like Phoebe Bridgers, Beabadoobee, and Gracie Abrams.  Also, for one night only, Paramore, will be the opening act.

Midnights is definitely recommended if you need feel good songs or just need to cry your heart out.

Midnights gets 9 out of 10 Spartan Stars.
